Author Visits

What ages or grade levels are visits best for?

My books are designed for children ages 4–8, which makes them a great fit for Pre-K through 2nd grade. I can also tailor visits slightly for younger or older groups upon request.

What does a typical author visit include?

Visits can be tailored based on the age and curriculum needs of each school. A standard visit includes:

  • A warm welcome and brief introduction

  • A read-aloud of one (or both!) of the books

  • A fun and engaging Q&A session with students

  • A creative activity, like helping students come up with their own story idea

For longer sessions or older students, I can also lead a writing or storytelling workshop.

How long is each session?

I offer flexible formats based on your schedule and student age, but would typically recommend:

  • 30 minutes for Pre-K and Kindergarten

  • 45-60 minutes for 1st grade+ to allow more time for an activity

How many sessions can you do in a day?

Typically, I can do up to three sessions in one school day. If you’d like a full-day program, we can customize the schedule to fit your classrooms and age groups.

Do you do virtual visits?

Yes! I’m happy to do live virtual author visits via Zoom or Google Meet. These can be a great option for schools outside my local area or for budget-friendly events.

How much does a visit cost?

Pricing depends on the format and location. I offer free visits for local schools and custom pricing for travel. Contact me to discuss based on your particular needs.

Can students buy your books?

Yes! I offer pre-order forms so families can purchase signed books ahead of time or on the day of the visit.

Do you provide materials for teachers?

Absolutely! I’ll provide activity sheets for during and after the visit and provide teachers with discussion questions or writing prompts that tie into the books.

How do we book a visit?

It’s easy! Just email me at nicole.oconnor.author@gmail.com. I’ll be happy to answer any questions and help you plan a visit that fits your students and schedule.
